Membership At Friendship Church

Why should I become a member?

Ownership - We need you to join.
As a non-profit corporation, in the State of Minnesota, we are required to have members. It is the members who are directly responsible for decisions related to the property belonging to a church
as well as decisions about the budget, the board, and the position of senior pastor.

Commitment - Membership reflects the biblical principles of commitment and covenant relationships.
In today’s society few want to be committed to anything... a church... a job ... a marriage.

God says believers are to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Ephesians 4:16). Members affirm that because of their belief in Jesus they have a work to do in the church and around the world. They are willing to join others to see that it gets done.

Relationship - Membership is not based on obligation or ritual.
When you join, you identify yourself as part of a spiritual family where you connect with others and experience the giving and receiving of love. You relay your desire for restoration and reconciliation to work out any difference. To illustrate this, it is the difference between being a guest versus being part of the family (Matthew 22:37-38).

Responsibility - The need to be accountable.
Members recognize the responsibility of being part of a caring network of people, sharing one another’s joys and sorrows, and helping one another grow (I Peter 4:10). God warns against spiritual autonomy (Hebrews 13:17). Members realize the need to be accountable to a group of mature believers in order to receive guidance and be equipped to live the Christian life.
