I gave my life to Christ when I was in 10th grade a year and a half after I started going to church on a regular basis. For the next year and a half I dug deep into the Word of God, attempted to develop some good HABITS on my own and just spent a lot of time learning. When I was half way through my Senior year of High School, my schedule started to overwhelm me and I stopped going to church all together. I had started to feel like I wasn’t moving anywhere. I was stuck. I felt like I wasn’t learning anything new. Two years later, I started going to CNC at Friendship. I spent a year and a half getting back on track and then the director or the Junior High Ministry came in one night and asked for help. I thought it sounded fun, but why add ANOTHER thing to my schedule?? That sounded crazy to me!! But, it seemed that God was continually nudging me towards volunteering somewhere and so I took the leap and started helping out on Wednesday nights. As I look back at my life and I look at why I lost it my Senior year, I believe wholeheartedly it was because I wasn’t USING what I was learning to give back to others. My youth pastor had been telling me for some time that I should get involved. He kept telling me that I would be a good leader. I didn’t believe him. Now, I can say with excitement that the time I spend with junior highers is a complete JOY! I give my time and God blesses me in completely other areas of my life. It is AWESOME!! Jeff…you were RIGHT!!
